Claire Evelyn Von Hassel Edwardson

Claire Evelyn von Hassel Edwardson, 83, loving wife of Arthur Henry Edwardson, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital. Claire was born December 1, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to the late William Roosevelt and Henrietta Reichard von Hassel. Prior to moving to Clarksville in 1995, they lived in Emerald Isle, NC, Durham, NC, and Massapequa Park, NY. In addition to her husband of 62 years, Mrs. Edwardson is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Johnson of Raleigh, NC and sons, Richard Arthur Edwardson of Gastonia, NC and Eric William Edwardson of Libby, MO, nine grandchildren, two great-grandsons and her brother, William Roosevelt von Hassel, Jr. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Susan Grimm officiating. Memorial donations in Mrs. Edwardson's name may be made to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 111 Sixth Street, Clarksville, Va. 23927.
