Clara Horton Morgan

SOUTH BOSTON Clara Horton Morgan of South Boston, VA died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the age of 90. She was born in Person Co., NC on March 15, 1926 to the late James Clair Horton, Sr. and the late Jessie Carrie Walker Horton. Clara was a member of Second Baptist Church and worked at Waskey’s Dry Cleaning, Craddock Terry Shoe Factory, and for Dr. Gerald C. Burnette. She was a hospital volunteer, enjoyed visiting with people and quilting. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Satterfield of Gibsonville, NC; a son, David Morgan and wife Jeannie of Alton, VA; grandchildren, Carla Peake, Adam Satterfield, Chris Morgan, and Matt Morgan; great grandchildren, Tyler, Josh, Andrew, Natalie, Jade, Kaitlyn, and Maddie; great-great grandchild, Rylan;a sister, Jackie Snead; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Second Baptist Church with the Reverend Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Second Baptist Church on Friday, October 21 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at her home, 717 Traver Ave., South Boston.
