Clarence Shelton Morris, Jr.

Clarence Shelton Morris Jr passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the age of 73 after a long, courageous battle with brain cancer.  He was born on November 12, 1949 in Mecklenburg County to the late Clarence Shelton Morris Sr and the late Pearl Tuck Morris.  He is survived by his wife, Denise Mestro Morris.

Clarence was a 49-year employee as a senior project manager with Comfort Systems USA.  He was an avid hunter and competitive sporting clay and skeet shooter and an active member of the Halifax County Gun Club. As a member of the NWTF, he served as the banquet chair for 20 years for the Halifax Area Chapter.  He was also active in Quails Forever and the NRA. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his wife Denise, he is survived by a daughter, Katy Morris Pool (Travis); son, Eric Shelton Morris; grandchildren, Maggie Elizabeth Pool and Molly Claire Pool; sister, Judy Pearl Overbey and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother- in- law, Elizabeth T. Mestro of Dover, Delaware.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Rosa F. Morris and grandfather Walter J. Morris and his father-in-law, William R. Mestro Sr.

A funeral service will be held at Union Christian Church on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and other times at the home.
