Clifton Floyd Cranford

BUFFALO JUNCTION FORMERLY SOUTH BOSTON Mr. Clifton Floyd Cranford died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the age of 86.Clifton was born June 3, 1929 in Tarboro, NC to the late Roy Franklin Cranford, Sr. and Minnie Minton Cranford.He was a 1948 graduate of C.H. Friend and a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church.Clifton was also a lifetime member of the South Boston Rescue Squad as an EMT and retired from J.P. Stevens after 41 years of service.In his youth, he was avid baseball player with the South Boston Wrappers.Mr. Cranford also served in the National Guard. Mr. Cranford is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret S. Cranford, his daughter, Janet Lee Cranford, Clarksville, VA, sisters, Juanita Gant, Taylorsville, NC and Mildred Bowen, Richmond, VA, brothers, Jerry Cranford, South Boston, VA, Roy Cranford, Jr., Canada, George Cranford, Richmond, VA and Ronnie Cranford, Taylorsville, NC.Also surviving are grandchildren, John Carrington (Joanie) Cranford, Virgilina, VA and Margaret Anne-Carlisle Cranford, South Boston, VA, great-grandchildren, Ashton Carrington Cranford and Colby Alan Cranford and daughter-in-law, Laura Cranford Edwards, South Boston, VA.In addition to his parents, Clifton was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Alan Cranford and siblings, Milton Cranford, Robert Cranford, Mary Bain and Joyce Whitt. The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA.Funeral services will be Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Gravel Hill Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA with Reverend Joey Tucker officiating.
