Clifton Howard Elliott

Nelson, VA Clifton “Cliff” Howard Elliott, husband of Betty Newton Elliott, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 1, 2021, at the age of 81. He was born on March 7, 1939 in Granville County, NC to the late Frank and Annie Bray Elliott. Cliff was a 1957 graduate of Oak Hill High School. He worked as a butcher and store manager with Vaughan’s Grocery for many years. In addition, he raised beef cows, goats and poultry on his farm. He enjoyed collecting Case knives and was a member of the Case Collector’s Club. He also collected and repaired clocks. Cliff was a bluegrass musician, enjoying all kinds of musical instruments. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Betty, Cliff is survived by his son, Carl Elliott and wife, Janet, of Bullock; siblings and spouses, Dorothy “Peg” Forlines, Elvin Elliott (Uzelia), Ralph Elliott (Marie), Owen Elliott (Shirley) and sister-in-law, Jean Elliott. He was preceded in death by siblings and spouses, Garland Elliott (Ruth), Lucille Puryear (Lawrence), Julius Elliott (Sarah), Otis Elliott, Robert Elliott, James Elliott, Gail Wade (Frank) and brother-in-law, Hunter Forlines. A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, February 4 at Grassy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Cameron Currin officiating. The Elliott family would like to thank the doctors and nurses with Sentara Home Health and Sentara HRH for the excellent care that they extended to Cliff.
