Clifton Bennie Newby

Mr. Clifton Bennie Newby, Sr. of 1131 Lewis Ferrell Rd., South Boston died Friday, March 11, 2011 at the age of 68. He was born in Halifax Co. on August 10, 1942 to the late Floyd Lee Newby, Sr. and the late Ida Dalton Newby and was married to Alice Long Newby. Mr. Newby was a retired truck driver for Sunshine Mills and was a member of Arbor Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Alice Long Newby of the home; two sons, Clifton Bennie "Butch" Newby, Jr. and wife, Effie of Gasburg and Allen Wayne Newby of Alton; a daughter, Tammy Faye Dunn and husband, Ollie of Alton; a sister, Lissie Mae Lewis of Vernon Hill; six grandchildren, Trey Dunn, Tyler Dunn, Alayna Newby, Tommy Taylor and wife, Danielle, Allison Taylor, and Stacia Cook and husband, Ricky; and three great grandchildren, McKenzie Hauser, Mason Cook, and Kamden Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Thelma Lewis and Pauline Jefferson; and a brother, Buck Newby. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Arbor Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Monday, March 14 from 7 until 8:30pm, and at other times at the home.
