Curtis Ray Reaves Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the age of 79. He was born on July 23, 1944 in Halifax County to Stover Edward Reaves and Mary Louise Satterfield Reaves. He is survived by his wife, Dale Long Reaves.
Curtis was a member of Cedar Grove Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 8. He was a retired welder at ABB. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Dale of 57 years; children, Cherry Rogers and husband Gary of South Boston and Curtis Ray Reaves Jr of South Boston; 7 grandchildren, Jessica (Tyler), Aaron (Sara), Cody, Amanda (Shawn), Emma, Brad (Lexie) and Amanda (West); 8 great grandchildren, Norah, Oliver, Avery, Ellie, Holden, Myla, Bellamy and Aria; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Earnest Reaves (Jean), Warner Reaves (Peggy) and a special daughter-in-law, Angie Reaves.
A special thanks to his caregivers, Patty, Lakisha, Rebecca, Melissa, Latasha and Melissa.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Cedar Grove Methodist Church with the Reverends John Flood and Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends any time at the home of Gary and Cherry Rogers.
