Mrs. Daisy Long Satterfield Martin of 955 Hwy. 58, Buffalo Junction died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the age of 96. She was born in Halifax Co. on June 13, 1914 to the late George M. and Manye S. Long and was married to the late John Thomas Satterfield (1st husband) and the late Letcher T. Martin (2nd husband). Mrs. Martin was a retired inspector at Burlington Industries and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Satterfield Owen of Buffalo Junction; a daughter-in-law, Violet C. Satterfield of Turbeville; sons-in-law, William C. "Tad" Lowery of Forest and Glenn Powell of Scottsburg; a sister, Virginia Long Satterfield and husband, Wilson of South Boston; grandchildren, Danny C. Owen and wife, Marla, Ronald L. Owen and wife, Barbara, Katie S. Welch and husband, Anthony, Archie "Fred" Cook and wife, Pam, Tony Lowery, and Tim Lowery and wife, Sherry; great grandchildren, Daniel Chase Owen and Taylor Grace Weatherford; and step daughters, Edith M. Wagstaff, Colleen M. Walker, and Geraldine M. Watts, all of Scottsburg. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by three children, John Fleet Satterfield, Gladys Marie Lowery, and Lily Dale Powell and eleven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 18 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Stewart and Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Turbeville. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, July 17 from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
