Dale Allen Mckinney

Dale Allen McKinney of South Boston went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the age of 74.  He was born in Halifax County on March 17, 1950, the son of the late Charles A. McKinney and Estelle H. McKinney and was married to Angela Jones McKinney who survives.

Dale was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on several committees which he thoroughly enjoyed.  He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post 8.  He was employed for 20 years  with the Town of South Boston as a police officer, later pursuing a career in construction.  He loved being outside, hunting and working in the yard and on the family farm in Scottsburg.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Angela Jones McKinney, of the home; sons, Cole McKinney of South Boston and Burke McKinney (Tera) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, TeLisa McKinney of South Boston; grandchildren, Kaylin & Blake McKinney and a brother-in-law, Anthony Jones of South Boston.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Grace Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Stewart officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 16th from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home.
