David Clayton Cook

Mr. David Clayton Cook of 2137 Winns Creek Rd., Halifax, VA died Monday, August 18, 2014 at the age of 62. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on December 25, 1951 to Rosa Hamlett Cook and the late Clayton Henry Cook. He was married to Carolyn Granger Cook. Mr. Cook was a member of Winns Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Trustee, and directorof Sunday School. He was most proud of serving as a Sunday School teacher. He was a database administrator at Burlington Industries, retiring in 2002 after 30 years. He was a member of the Gideon's. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Granger Cook; a daughter, Karen Cook Shiner and husband, David of Richmond, VA; a son, Joshua David Cook and wife, Lindsey of Halifax, VA; his mother, Rosa Hamlett Cook of Crystal Hill, VA; a sister, Faye Harris and husband, David of Danville, VA; and one step grandson, Dylan Knight. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Winns Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Kopco officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Winns Creek Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and at other times at the home.
