Clarksville, VA - David Farber, 82, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at his home in Clarksville VA.He was born in Bayonne, NJ to Russian immigrants, Sarah and Abraham Farber. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Hallie Wilkerson Farber, his son, Steven Farber of Brookeville MD, his daughter and son-in-law, Caren and William Stangel of Sherborn MA, two grandchildren, Timothy and Katherine Stangel, one brother, Jules B. Farber of France, and two nephews, Richie Farber and Harold Savrick of Bayonne NJ. He was predeceased by two sisters, Kate Kolakowsky and Bessie Savrick, and one brother, Sam Farber. David served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict before beginning his career with the Federal government; first at the Pentagon, then at the U.S. Department of Commerce. During his 32 years at Commerce, he served as Director - Office of Publications, Director - Office of Procurement, Administration, and Security, Deputy Director for Procurement and Administrative Services, and as Assistant Secretary for Administration before retiring in 1992. He was the recipient of the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals, and the Presidential Management Improvement Award. After retirement, Dave and Hallie moved from Brookeville MD to Clarksville VA, where he enjoyed porch-sitting with friends, neighbors and family.
