David Wayne Stephens

Mr. David Wayne "Bird Dog" Stephens of 1038 Loftis Rd., South Boston, VA died on November 21, 2011 at the age of 57. He was born in Lynchburg, VA on February 25, 1954 to the late Robert Fillmore Stephens and Marjorie R. Stone Baker and was married to Judy Rice Stephens. Mr. Stephens was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. He was also Vice President of the Hyco Rd. Hunting Club. Survivors include his wife, Judy Rice Stephens of South Boston, VA; one son, Brian David Stephens of South Boston, VA; his mother, Marjorie R. Stone Baker & husband, Donald of Gladys, VA; one brother, Daryl L. "Tex" Stephens & wife, Virginia of Gladys, VA; two grandchildren, Skylar Dawn Stephens and Jasmine Marie Stephens; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Eldon & Josephine Rice and family of South Boston, VA. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, William A. Stone; and one sister, Betty Ray Stephens Carwile. Services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Brooks Funeral Home with Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Wesleybury United Methodist Church Cemetery in Gladys, VA. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 7 PM until 9 PM and at other times at the home.
