Dean Oakley Lowery

SOUTH BOSTON Dean Oakley Lowery of South Boston, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the age of 71.Born in Halifax County on April 18, 1951, he was the son of the late Richard and Lottie Oakley Lowery. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie Cole Lowery. Dean worked and played hard, working in construction most of his life. After retirement, he continued working part time with his children in Raleigh, which he loved. Being on the lake and having good times with his friends and family brought much joy to his life. In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by his children, Dana Lowery King (David), Bryant Dean Lowery (Tracy), and Dustin Lee Lowery (Elizabeth);7 grandchildren and 1 on the way, Jordan, Lauren and Morgan King, Maddox, Jacob, Bonnie Grace Lowery, Isabelle Lowery and baby boy Lowery on the way; and many other beloved friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lottie Lowery; sisters, Gwynn Link and Rencie Ragans; and special nephew, David Ragans. A Memorial Service will be held at Black Walnut Baptist Church on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Raymond Wooten officiating.
