Delbert Victor Bellairs

Delbert Victor Bellairs of Raleigh, NC went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the age of 86.  He was born in Julesburg, Colorado on November 27, 1937 to the late George Victor Bellairs and Anna Marie Wunderlich Bellairs.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Shellie Nelson Bellairs.

After graduation from high school, Del joined the Navy and then moved to Washington, D.C. where he met his sweetheart, Shellie.  They were both working for the FBI at that time.  Then Del went back to Colorado to take the very 1st computer science course offered by IBM. Shellie  joined him in Denver and they were married and a few years later gave birth to their only child, Terrie.   Then Del took a job in Huntsville, AL with NASA and he and Shellie both attended college and graduated top of their classes while Terrie was in Jr. High School.  Del's work with the first in flight rocket scientists eventually took him to Computer Science Corporation and Boeing.  He retired a career computer scientist with Department of Transportation in Raleigh, NC at age 75. He loved to have fun, dancing, singing, joking and playing family loved games like solitaire, "mean" marbles and all kinds of cards.  He was saved at age 79  and loves the Lord Jesus with all his heart, soul, mind and strength.

He is survived by his daughter, Terrie B. Wood (Zane) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Zane Greyson Wood (Corrie) of Boone, NC, Tristan Michael Wood of Columbus, GA and Ethan Karl Wood of West Point, NY; sister, Donna Fehringer (Ivan) of Kearney, NB; brother, Dennis Bellairs (Judy) of Lakewood, CO;  brothers-in-law & sister-in-law, Ira Nelson of South Boston  and Jim (Vivian)Nelson of Roanoke, VA; many nieces & nephews; and special caregiver &  sister in Christ, Felecia Harris.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 27th at Florence Avenue Baptist Church, Virgilina, VA with Reverend Herbert Brown officiating.  Burial will follow at Virgilina Cemetery followed by food and fellowship back at Florence Avenue Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends prior to the service, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Florence Avenue Baptist Church.
