Clarksville, VA - Della Mae Elliott Yancey passed away at Sovah Hospital in Danville on April 20, 2018 at the age of 70 from her battle with cancer. She was born in Oxford, NC on August 10, 1947 to Johnny and Patti Elliott. Della was a native of Oxford but was currently living in Clarksville. She worked for Burlington Industries for many years and also as a caregiver for many people. She is survived by her son, Michael Thomas Overbey and his wife, Shirley of Nelson, VA; her daughter, Tammy Skorcz and her husband, Bill of Sheridan, AR; two sisters, Shirley Ham and Barbara Martin; three brothers, Burnell, Calvin, and Louis Elliott, all of North Carolina. In addition she has 7 grandchildren, Timmy (Janie) Overbey, Michael (Amber) Overbey, Christopher Overbey, Jessie (Lyndsey) Overbey, Bennie Wall, Brandie (Kevin) Trickie and Tamatha (Matt) West; 7 great grandchildren, Kathy Overbey, Jennifer Overbey, Matthew Overbey, Gracelyn West, Braxtyn West, Matt Overbey and Alaina Trickie and a very special dog “Honey Bun”. She was preceded in death by her son, George Timothy Overbey, Sr.; her first husband, George Oliff Overbey, who was the father of her children, and her second husband, Jack Yancey. Della was also preceded in death by brothers, Gene and Winfred Elliott of NC. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 23 at the Overbey Family Farm. The Reverend Jackie Wray will officiate.
