Dexter Lee Smith

SOUTH BOSTON Dexter Lee Smith went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the age of 75.Born in New Hampshire on March 20, 1947, he was the son of the late Ralph Leonard Smith and Katherine Rossen Smith. He was married to the love of his life, Jean Martin Smith for 30 years. Dexter loved the Lordand was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was a Sgt. Major in the U.S. Army having served his country for 32 years in over 10 locations throughout his career, in both United States and other countries. A loving father and grandfather, he loved all his children inside and out. Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Jean; children, Stacey Smith, Karrey Komp (Steve), Derek Smith, Brian Frey (Tiffany), Shannon Dendler, and Christine Creasy (Jay); 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; sister, Linda Brown (Ed); brother, Wesley Smith (Jennifer) and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Symantha Turner. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Grace Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Stewart and Reverend Steve Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Grace Baptist Church from 6-8 PM and again on Saturday, April 2 one hour prior to the service at Grace Baptist Church.
