Clarksville, VA - Donald Sidney Beeching-Hall, husband of Rebecca Johnson Beeching-Hall, departed his earthly home on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the age of 94. He was born on October 14, 1923 in Ilford, a town in the county of Essex of the United Kingdom, to the late Vincent and Gertrude Tompsett Beeching-Hall. Donald was a sergeant in the Home Guard (UK). He retired from Westinghouse in Raleigh, NC, where he worked as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer of Robotics Automation and Mechanization. Donald was also a gifted artist who enjoyed oil painting, reverse intaglio acrylic/lucite carving and gemstone carving specifically Australian opal jewelry. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Virgilina, VA where he sang in the choir. In addition to his wife of 45 years, Donald is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Hoyle (Dr. David Hoyle) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; step-sons Samuel Walter Upchurch (Deborah) of Raleigh, NC and Sam Keith Upchurch, Jr. (Brenda) of Benson, NC; grandchildren, Kane Upchurch (Kim), Kalan Talton (Andy), Tracey Lane, Elizabeth Hoyle Bevacqua (Chris), Kathryn Hoyle, Meredith Hoyle and Casey Allgood (Kevin). Also surviving are great-grandchildren Kyle Joseph, Hannah, Nicholas, Kaden, Kobie, Kyla, Camille, Gentery, Grace, Layla, Harlin, Samuel Wilson, Clint Jeremiah, Alaina, Chase, Cameron and Katie; great-great grandchild, Brantley; sister-in-law Mae Cartrette Williamson (Lloyd); nieces Anne, Judy, Margaret and Pamela and nephews John, Peter and Keith. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen Margret Watts; sisters Irene Freeman and Mable Morash; brother Leslie Beeching-Hall, son Michael Vincent Beeching-Hall; and his niece Patricia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.Burial will follow at Oakhurst Cemetery. The Reverends Sam Brewer and Jack Stewart will officiate.
