Donnie Gray Green

Donald Gray "Donnie" Green of Buffalo Junction and Halifax County native, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the age of 84. He was born in Halifax County on October 4, 1938 to the late Ernest Green and the late Edna Clark Green. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Loftis Green.

Donnie was raised in the South Boston area, having attended & graduated from the local schools and later received his Auctioneer and Realtor Licenses in 1966. He was known as a realtor, broker and auctioneer and owned Green Auction & Realty Company, Inc. He loved life and often would say, "I had a good life." He had a passion for the coast of North Carolina, boating, land & timber and auctioning. He was intelligent, hard working, appreciative and loved his family, especially grandkids and pictures & videos of his great grandson. He was a member of First Baptist Church in South Boston.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Ann Garrett; son, Charles Gray Green; grandchildren, Will Dillard (Corinne) and Eliza Dillard; great grandson, Wes Dillard; brother, Ronnie Green (Joyce); brother-in-law, Ronnie Hackney; caregiver, Dorce Fields; Nascar betting/racing buddy, Clarence Gregory and his extended family, Harbor Village Yacht Club.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Ruth, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Debby Hackney and brother-in-law, Graham "Brownie" Loftis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jack Stewart officiating. A private burial will follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
