Donald Roger Jacobs

Donald Roger Jacobs went home to be with his Lord on July 26, 2017.He was the son of PeggyJacobs and the late Charles Jacobs of Hopewell, VA.He was the husband of Evone Tillotson Jacobs for 36 years.They were childhood sweethearts. Donald graduated from Hopewell High School in 1976. He graduated John Tyler Community College in 1981 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.After college he worked for WACO Incorporated for 8 years; then, he went to work for Newport News Shipyard as a submarine designer for 8 years before moving back to Clarksville, Virginia where he worked at Burlington Industries for 4 years. Donald was a member of Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher Despite the hardship that Donald endured throughout his life, he always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. He had a heart for his church, family, and lost souls.He was a great prayer warrior. Along with his wife, Donald is survived by three daughters; Cassandra Moseley and husband Arthur of Norlina, North Carolina, Brooke Inge and husband Andrew of Nelson, and Tiffany Kirkland and husband Justin of Boydton.He was known as “Da” to Hana and Clara Yancey, whom he cherished as if they were his own. He was known as “Grandpa” to his three granddaughters, Anna Moseley, Adaline Kirkland, and Daisy Inge. Donald also had one brother, Darrell Jacobs and wife, Susie, of Hopewell. Funeral services for Mr. Jacobs will be held at 2:00 p.m.¬¬ on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle with burial to follow at Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle Church Cemetery. The Reverend Billy Coghill and Reverend Jackie Wray will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the church the night before on Friday, July 28 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
