Skipwith, VA - Donald Edward Propst went to his heavenly home late Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at the age of 100. He was born in Burke County, NC, on May 14, 1919, to the late Mary Costner and Emerson Lee Propst. Donald graduated from North Carolina State University in 1942 and served in the United States Army during World War II.He moved to Clarksville, VA, in 1950, where he taught at Clarksville High School, Bluestone High School, Bluestone Middle School and operated Clarksville Nursery.Donald was a member of the VFW Post 8163 and New Hope Baptist Church. Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Sue Thomasson Propst in 1973 and by his second wife, Irene Moss Propst, in 2019. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Susan and Robert Bochman of Richmond, VA and Mary and Thomas Parker of Chase City, VA; grandchildren, John Bochman (Michelle), Andrew Bochman (Sara), Sarah Clowdis (Rob) and Nathan Parker (Crystal); five great grandchildren and a sister, Lois Propst of Morganton, NC. Additionally, he is survived by his step children, Penny Paskoff (Stan), Karen Greene, Brian Greene (Rhonda) and Denise Greene; step grandchildren, Sam Paskoff, Laura Paskoff, Jessica Greene and Adam Greene, as well as three step great grandchildren. Private graveside funeral services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in South Hill, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake Country SPCA or a charity of your choice.
