Doris Morris Averett

VIRGILINA, VA Doris Morris Averett passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the age of 83. Born in Halifax County on January 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Asa Howard Morris and the late Elsie O’Geary Morris.She was a member of Union Christian Church and was retired as a coil winder for 25 years with ABB/Westinghouse. Doris is survived by her children; Rhonda F. Parham and husband, Graham of Oxford, NC, Sherry A. Riddle and husband, Michael of Reidsville, NC, and Susan A. Denny of Virgilina, Va.; grandson, W.T. Satterfield and wife, Allison of Oxford, NC; great granddaughter, Chloe Ann Satterfield; special nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Crystal Walker, Joyce Howerton, and Brittany Nester. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George William Morris, son, Mark Haven Averett, and a daughter, Fonda Gayle Averett. Funeral services for Doris Morris Averett will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Union Christian Church with Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow at Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, January 15, 2018 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
