Doris Lowery Bowen

Mrs. Doris Lowery Bowen of 103 Rosehill Dr., South Boston,VA, formerly of Virgilina, VA, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at the age of 89. She was born in Granville Co., NC on October 15, 1923 to the late Henry Thomas Lowery and the late Lillian Talley Lowery and was married to the late Harold Mason Bowen. Mrs. Bowen was a homemaker and a member of North Fork Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons, Thomas O Bowen, Sr. and wife, Linda, Harold R. Bowen and wife, Dorothy, Ronnie R. Bowen and wife, Kathy, Vance B. Bowen and wife, Rita all of Virgilina, and Cecil L. Bowen and wife, Ramona of Alton; 3 sisters, Mary Dill of Danville, VA, McLean Poole of Granville Co. NC, and Annette Beaver of Colonial Heights, VA; 16 Grandchildren; 35 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, 2 grandsons; Terry Mason Bowen and Clint E. Bowen; 2 brothers Thomas Junior Lowery and Gerald Lowery, Sr. and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM at North Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Welch and Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday night at Brooks Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
