Doris Irene Brandon Brooks

Mrs. Doris Irene Brandon Brooks, widow of Earl Lester Brooks, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021. She was born in Halifax County on December 2, 1923 to the late Lewis and Permelia Gordon Brandon. Doris was a member of First Baptist Church in South Boston. Her passion was her church and helping others. She was retired as an inspector from Tultex. Her survivors are a son, Don Brooks and Susan of Richmond, VA; daughter, Carol B. Conner and Richard Bradley of Alton; sisters, Mattie Jordan and Elsie Throckmorton, both of South Boston, and Myrtis Burgess of Alton; brother, Dean Brandon and Lorraine of Alton; 4 Grandchildren, Greg and Kerin Conner of Durham, NC, Sarah and Drew Bohanon and Ross and Veronica Conner of Wake Forest, NC, and Caitlin Brooks and Sara Ellis of Newark, Delaware; and 11 Great Grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Brooks Croll. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 21, 2021 at First Baptist Church in South Boston. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1:00-2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, masks are optional.
