Doris Jones Collier

Buffalo Junction, VA Doris Jones Collier, wife of the late James “Snooks” Collier, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 16, 2021, at the age of 88. She was born in Mecklenburg County on October 10, 1932 to the late Otha and Jessie Hite Jones. Doris decided at the age of 6 that she wanted to be a nurse. As an adult she pursued that choice and obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse. Doris worked at Halifax Regional Hospital for 40 years and was a major factor in the development of the ICU Department there. She was an active member at Buffalo Baptist Church for many years. Those left to cherish memories of Doris are her children, Betsy C. West (Tim) and James E. Collier (Tammy Hayes) both of Buffalo Junction; grandchildren, Satera Leighann Collier, Kevin Lee Murphy, Joseph Adam West (Jen) and Kristina West Lloyd (Jason); great grandchildren, Harmony Jade West, Aiden Cecil West, Will Lloyd, Chloe Lloyd, James Memphis Hartrum, Keith Collier Hartrum, andWyatt Enzo Hartrum; and sister, Gloria King. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James; and brother, Graham Leonard Jones. A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, April 19, 2021, at Gravel Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Chet Bergeron officiating.
