Doris "Dot" Wilkerson Byers

VIRGILINA Mrs. Doris Rose “Dot” Wilkerson Byers, wife of Louis “Buzz” Byers, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the age of 84.Born in Brunswick County on September 30, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Abner Young Wilkerson and the late Esther Lee Daniel Wilkerson. Dot was a loving wife and mother. She was employed at Halifax Regional Hospital for 37 years as a registered nurse. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Sherri Norwood and husband, Daniel of Roanoke, and Debra Byers of Virgilina; grandchildren, Sarah Marie Norwood and William Morris Norwood. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Abner Lee Wilkerson and Richard Sidney Wilkerson. A Memorial Serivce will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with Reverend Norman Talley officiating.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1:00-2:00 PM and other times at the home, 2174 Clarksville Road, Virgilina.
