Doris Elizabeth Hudson

Doris Elizabeth Hudson of 2229 Hudson Rd., Virgilina died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the age of 86. She was born in Halifax Co. on December 22, 1924 to the late James William Hudson and the late Naomi Wilborn Hudson. Ms. Hudson, fondly known as the "Quilt Lady" was a member of North Fork Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include a brother, Charles K. Hudson and wife, Jewell; nieces, Frances Perkins and husband, Jimmie, Ruby Thompson and husband, Fred, Mary Lou Dunn, and Libby Slagle and husband, Roger; a nephew, Billy Arrington and wife, Joan; thirteen great nieces and nephews; and eleven great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Alice Hudson Arrington and Clarice P. Hudson; a brother, William J. Hudson; and a nephew-in-law, Howard L. Dunn. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM at North Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Welch, Rev. Randy Holmes, and Rev. Bill LaWall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home.
