Doris Fuqua Powell

Doris Lou Fuqua Powell passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the age of 90.  She was born in North Carolina on April 26, 1933 to the late Arch Fuqua and the late Mamie Barts Fuqua. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend of 59 years, Hubert Powell.

Doris was a retired LPN and a member of Mercy Seat Presbyterian Church. She loved gardening and flowers.  Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed camping trips with them.

She was the mother of three daughters, Grey Arrington (Reggie), Karen Davis (Terry) and Penny Woody (James); grandchildren, Charles Thompson (Caitlin), B .J. Reaves (Samantha), Zachary Reaves (Alison), Anastasia Szymkowski (Michael)  and Michaela Moore; great grandchildren, Cole & Eli Thompson, Willow & Max Reaves, Mary Lou & Polly Reaves, Eleanor Stillwell, Marley Powell, Walter & Conner Fincher; siblings, Ralph Fuqua, Bob Fuqua, Margie Humphries and numerous nieces and nephews, and best friend Dean Payne.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Fuqua and a sister, Jane Carroll.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Mercy Seat Presbyterian Church with Reverend Larry Davis officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends after the service on Friday at the church.
