Dorothy Wallace Hazelwood

May 18, 1944 — February 16, 2023

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Wallace Hazelwood of Randolph passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on February 16, 2023. Born in Halifax County on May 18, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Louis Alexander Wallace Sr and Flossie Conner Wallace. She was married for 34 years to the late James Judge Hazelwood.

Dorothy’s passion was the outdoors. Whether it was farming or fishing, she enjoyed the sunshine. In her spare time, she could also be found singing and playing music. She was very passionate about her animals, which included chickens, cats, and dogs. Being a Christian, her faith was important to her as well. But closest to her heart were her family and friends. She would never miss an opportunity to fellowship with those that she loved dearly.

Those surviving are her children, Brenda H. Duffey (Dean), Rita H. Jackson (Dwayne), and Sandra H. Duffer (T.L.); grandchildren, Melissa Fears (Scotty), Harold Duffey (Stephanie), Jennifer Hatcher (Charles), Victoria Jackson, Shelby Conner, Emily Jackson (Lacoby), Megan Vaughan (Geoff), Ashley Lacks, Brent Duffer, and Mackenzie Duffer; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Jannie Lewis, Louis Wallace Jr (Sharon)., John Wallace (Janet); and special family members, James Ray Martin (Connie).

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Wayne Hazelwood and her great grand angels.
