Mrs. Dorothy Rice Honeycutt Epps of 1070 Eighth St., Virgilina, VA died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the age of 79. She was born November 14, 1931 to the late Arthur Rice and the late Lucy Morris Rice. She was married to the late Charlton McDonald Honeycutt (1st husband) and the late James Lewis Epps (2nd husband). Mrs. Epps was a retired supervisor at J.P. Stevens. She was a member of Union Christian Church and was actively involved in Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Lea Clack and husband, Jimmie of Oxford, NC and Pat Honeycutt of Scottsburg, VA; a son, Donald Honeycutt and wife, Delores of Virgilina, VA; three sisters, Bertha Elliott of Triple Springs, NC, Rebecca Honeycutt and husband, Melvin of Virgilina, VA, and Willie Lea Glasscock of South Boston, VA; four brothers, William Rice and wife, Tuny of Virgilina, VA, Thomas Rice of Virgilina, VA, Cecil Rice and wife, Dottie of Buffalo Junction, VA, and Douglas Rice and Betty of Nelson, VA; three grandsons, Mark Rice and wife, Roxanne and children, Brittani and Austin, of Virgilina, VA, Bill Rice of Blairs, VA, and Derek Honeycutt and fiance, Becca Hoag of Virgilina, VA; and three granddaughters, Joanna Arnold and husband, Tony of Creedmoor, NC, Susan Clack and Steve Gates and children, Julie and Sydney of Rougemont, NC, and Kelly Shotwell and husband, Kyle and son, Collin of Roxboro, NC. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlton McDonald Honeycutt; her second husband, James Lewis Epps; her parents, Arthur and Lucy Morris Rice; and two sisters, Helen Rice Newton and Emma Rice. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Union Christian Church with Rev. Norman Talley and Rev. Sidney Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home.
