Bullock, NC - Mrs. Dorothy Wilson Short, widow of Herbert Riddick Short, left us to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the age of 91.She was born on June 15, 1925 in Granville County. Mrs. Short was employed as a lab technician at Burlington Industries before retiring after 47 years of service.Her favorite pastimes were quilting and gardening.She was a member of Stovall United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Short was predeceased by her father, Earl Pervis Wilson and her mother and step-father, Nellie Elliott Wilson Newby and William Newby. Also preceding her in death are her son-in-law, Allen Dale Elliott, sister, Susie W. Daniel and brothers, Pervis Wilson, W.B. “Bo” Newby, Garland Newby and Carol Taylor “Nub” Newby.She is survived by daughters, Becky Short Thompson (Jimmy) of South Boston, Jean Short Martin of Bullock, Trisha Short Tingen (Mike) of Oxford and Barbara Williams Elliott of Bullock and by her son, Bobby Ray Williams of Bullock.Also surviving are grandchildren, Charles Pervis Pleasants (Lesa), Chad Taylor Barker, Randall Thompson, Gary Joe Tingen, and Sandy Leigh Tingen; great-grandchildren, James Grant Altizer (Sabrina), Dannie Joe May (Joanna), Jeffrey Wayne May, Jessica May Baker, Joshua Ray Williams (Jenna), Gary Justin Pleasants, Tyler Kellerman and Chris Elliott (Jessica); 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Newby Clifford and brother, Harold Royster Newby. Funeral services for Dorothy Wilson Short will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Stovall United Methodist Church with the Reverend John Yount, the Reverend Sam Brewer and the Reverend Johnny Yount officiating.Burial will follow in Meadowview Memorial Park, Oxford, NC.The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 19 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA.
