Dorothy Carr Sumner

South Boston - Mrs. Dorothy Carr Sumner, wife of Graham Sumner, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the age of 84.Born in Halifax County on October 15, 1935 to the late Willie Herman "Pete" Carr and the late Annie Perkins Carr. Dorothy had a green thumb and loved flowers, plants and pets. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a step son, Walter Sumner; granddaughter, Tiffany Layne; grandson, Brandon Moody; and sisters, Shirley and Alease. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Cindy Moody; son, Richard Graham Sumner; brother, Willie H. "Joe" Carr Jr.; sisters, Jewel Cage and Josephine Bomar. A drive-by visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30 from 6:30 – 7:30 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home. The family will have a private graveside service on Friday, May 1 at Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach, VA.
