Douglas Rudolph Adcock, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished member of the Oxford community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on Thursday, July 27, 1933, Doug lived a life marked by dedication to family, faith, and community service.
Doug was a proud graduate of Mecklenburg County schools and served his country honorably in the United States Army. His professional journey included significant contributions to Burlington Industries, Russell Stover, and Sears and Roebuck. He later became a successful business owner, operating Christina's Restaurant and Buy Quick Convenience Stores, where he was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to customer service.
A devout member of Oxford Baptist Church, Doug served as a deacon and took great pride in maintaining the church's building and grounds. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he found joy in contributing to the church community.
Doug is survived by his loving sons, Douglas Lynn Adcock (Mary) and Christopher Ray Adcock (Tammy), both residing in Oxford, NC. He was the proud grandfather of Christina Renee Adcock (Matt) and Joseph Tanner Adcock (LeAnn), and the doting great-grandfather to William, Annabel, and Hugo. He also leaves behind a special daughter, Vieng Rattanong, and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Harvey Adcock and Ethel Emma Adcock, his beloved wife, Dorothy Rae Adcock, and his siblings, Clarence Adcock, William Adcock, Vascar Adcock, Cameron Adcock, Katherine Strickler, and Ruth Gomer.
A graveside service to honor Doug's life will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Arrangements are being handled by Watkins-Cooper-Lyon Funeral Home.
