Earl Linwood Hughes

Earl Linwood Hughes, 80, widower of Shirley Drumwright Hughes, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital.Mr. Hughes was born in Halifax County on May 6, 1934 to the late Dewey and Nerris Bowen Hughes.He was retired from Burlington Industries, having worked there for 43 years, lastly as a Dye House Weigher.Funeral services will be 2pm Saturday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Gene Burris officiating.Interment will follow in the Hitesburg Baptist Church Cemetery.Mr. Hughes is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Sheree and Alton Parker of Clarksville and Marcia James of Bullock, NC, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.His sister, Ruby Hazel Poole of South Boston and brother, Terry Hughes of Lynchburg also survive.The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, starting at 1pm.
