SOUTH BOSTON Mrs. Edith Ingram Powell of South Boston, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the age of 94.Born in Halifax County on February 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Hudson Ingram and Fannie Spencer Ingram and was married to the late Carlton Lewis Powell. As a charter member of Center United Church of Christ, her presence had a lasting impact on the community. Late in life, her equal passions for baseball and baking consumed her time. Left behind to cherish her memories is a son, Timothy Powell of Concord, NC; grandson, Adam Powell; nieces, Mary Womack Tuck, Frances Newcomb and Diane Conner; nephews, Lonnie Powell and Lowell Powell. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Luther, Arthur, Garland, Phillip and Elisha Ingram; sisters, Nellie Tuck, Dorothy Fisher, and Elizabeth Martin; and grandson, Christopher Powell. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 27, 2020 at Halifax Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any expenditures be made with the health and safety of your families first.
