Edith Parker Toone

Edith Parker Toone, widow of John Marshall Toone, of Clarksville passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born in Mecklenburg Co. on October 28, 1930 the daughter of the late John Wesley Parker and the late Annie Strum Parker. Edith was a beautician and a faithful member of Clarksville Baptist Church. She volunteered at Meadowview Terrace nursing home, especially helping with bingo games. Her friends were very important to her and she loved visiting with them and talking with them on the phone.

Survivors include her son, Lynn Toone of Roxboro, NC; brother, Marshall A. Parker of Petersburg; daughters-in-law, Shirley Toone of Virginia Beach and Loretta Toone of Roxboro, NC; grandchildren, Siobhan Wise (Jason) of Franklin; Connie Bowling (Shannon) of Chesterfield, Jonathan Toone (Brook) of Roxboro, NC, and Lindsay Toone (Stephanie) of Roxboro, NC; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Glenn Toone; brothers, Simon Edward Parker, W. Lee Parker; sister, Rachel Talley; and half-brothers, Tommie Lee Parker and Charlie Mason Parker.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Watkins Cooper Lyon Chapel with Reverend Doctor Greg Randall officiating. Intombment will follow at Oakhurst Cemetery Eternity Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday starting at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Edith's family asks that donations be made to Clarksville Baptist Church.
