Edna Inez Compton Woody

Ms. Edna Inez Compton Woody of 1123 Dan River Church Rd., South Boston, VA died on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the age of 74. She was born in Granville Co., NC on January 23, 1938 to the late Jesse Compton and the late Genevieve Patterson. Ms. Woody was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church and a retired nurse for the Woodview. Survivors include one daughter, Angela Woody Wilson & husband, Keith “Chip” Wilson of Halifax, VA; two sons, Charles Woody, Jr. & wife, Melinda Newton Woody of Nelson, VA and James Mel Woody & wife, Penny Powel Woody of Alton, VA; one brother, Edward Compton & wife, Geraldine of Oxford, NC; two sisters, Annie Williamson of Oxford, NC and Mary Lou Rash & husband, Gerald of Bullock, NC; grandchildren, Katelynn Woody, Makayla Woody, Meredith Woody, Karlie Wilson, and Kyle Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Shirley Adcock, and two brothers, Howard Compton and Johnny Compton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Black Walnut Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Wooten, Rev. Don Wilson, and Rev. Mike Wetherington officiating. Burial will be at Amis Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Oxford, NC. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home of her daughter, Angela Wilson, 1123 Dan River Church Rd., South Boston, VA.
