Edward Charlie Talbott

d. October 18, 2018

Mr. Edward C. Talbott of Cluster Springs passed away peacefully at his home early Thursday morning. The family is extremely grateful to all the friends, neighbors, and church family who have helped them over the past few years. Ed was the founder and owner ofEd’s Honda for many years. He started his motorcycle business in a cinder-block shop behind his home before moving to a location on Seymour Drive. After a few years, he established Ed’s Inc. Honda-Yamaha on Highway 58. He built his business by ‘feeding the fishes’, always seeing hiscustomers as his friends and going out of his way to help them anytime they were in need. He spent many days traveling to meet motorcycle friends in distress, and he helped Santa for years by making sure the mini-bikes were at the proper homes on Christmas morning. Ed was a founding member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, an active member of Cluster Springs Ruritan Club, and a long time member of the Halifax Rescue Squad. He was a charter member of the Cluster Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He was also active for years with the Halifax County - South Boston Retail Merchants Association. He was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church where he served as a deacon before failing health curtailed his activities. Ed never met a stranger, and his generous nature and welcoming smile drew people into his circle -some becoming lifelong friends, others becoming lead characters in some highly amusing stories. He loved to travel, taking many motorcycle trips with his friends. In his later years, he always had a story to tell about some adventure he had on those trips. Ed was married to Barbara Ann Lowery Talbott. He is survived by his wife, of the home, his daughter, Bunny Propst and her husband Phil, of Buffalo Junction; his daughter Donna Hudson, and husband Michael of Virgilina; his daughter, Sandy Slayton and her husband Marshall, of South Boston; and his son Darrin Talbott, and wife Dianne of Cluster Springs. He and Barbara have11grandchildren: Olivia Propst Shockey (Jason) of Olney Md; Drew Morris (Hannah) of Clarksville, Va; Zachary Morris (Deirdre) of Lorton, Va; Luke Hudson of Virgilina; Eli Hudson of Virgilina; Adam Slayton (Jacqui) of Richmond; Patrick Slayton (Emily) of Richmond; Emily Slayton, ChristopherTalbott, Joey Talbott, and Nathan Talbott, all of South Boston. He is survived by 6 great grandchildren: Audrey and Mina Shockey of Olney Md; Aria and Elora Morris of Clarksville; and Cooper Slayton and Graham Slayton of Richmond. He is also survived by a brother, W.C.
