Edwin Lewis Daniel

Virgilina, VA - Edwin Lewis Daniel passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the age of 91.He was born on June 28, 1925 in Virgilina, VA to the late Molly Levister and William S. Daniel.Mr. Daniel was a graduate of the Abbott School of Fine & Commercial Art, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and of Elon College.He began his journey as an educator teaching at the high school level in Roanoke, VA.Mr. Daniel became a professor at Elon University in 1963, teaching until his retirement in 1988, where upon he was granted the title of Emeritus Professor of Art. Surviving Mr. Edwin Lewis Davis are his nieces and nephews, Danny and Sherri Norwood and their children, Sarah and William, all of New Milford, CT; Donna and Bob Stoyko of Spokane, WA; Bill and Claudia Mackenzie of Jamestown, ND; Ann and Jim Reisenour also of Jamestown and Laurie Burghardt of Baltimore, MD, along with other numerous grandnieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held from 7 – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave, Clarksville, VA.The funeral service for Mr. Daniel will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 14 in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Virgilina Cemetery.
