Effie Capps Satterwhite

Effie Capps Satterwhite, age 88, of Clarksville, VA, died Friday, December 26, 2008 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Satterwhite was born September 26, 1920 in Drewry, NC, one of twelve children. She was predeceased by her husband, Nolton Madison Satterwhite. They were married 59 years before his death in 1997. Mrs. Satterwhite was employed at Burlington Industries for fifty years before her retirement. Survivors are her only child, Linda S. Keel and her husband, Richard C. Keel of Winston-Salem, NC; two granddaughters, Melanie G. Keel and husband, Stephen Robling; Richele K. Taylor and husband, Stacy; and one great grandson, Hunter James Taylor all of South Carolina. Surviving also are sisters: Lucille Richardson of Cary, NC; Elsie Mae Wright of Brodnax, VA; Jean Whitmore of Coats, NC and brothers: John Capps of Clarksville, VA; Calton Capps of South Hill, VA; Norman Capps of Richmond, VA and Dorsey Capps of Rocky Mt., NC, and a beloved cousin, Eunice Cummings of Raleigh, NC, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial contributions may be made to The Mecklenburg County Life Saving & Rescue Squad, of which Mrs. Satterwhite and her husband were active members for many years. The address for the Squad is PO Box 1535, Clarksville, VA 23927. Visitation at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home will be Sunday, December 28, 2008 from Noon until 8PM. Funeral services will be private.
