Eleanor Lorine Pittard Crute

Eleanor Lorine Pittard Crute, 87, of Fernwick Drive, South Boston, Virginia, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021, at her home. She was born on May 1, 1934, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, to the late Frank Thomas Pittard and Hettie Talley Pittard. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, Charles Palmer Crute, Jr.; son, Charles Glenn Crute; sister, Maggie Rebecca Pittard Brewer of Oxford, NC and a dear cousin, Bobby Godsey also of Oxford. Eleanor was a dedicated mother, and her family always came first and foremost.Her other passion was traditional quilting, which she still did by hand, without a sewing machine. A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Amis Chapel Baptist Church, Granville County, NC with burial to follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and on Friday evening and Saturday at the home of Karen Poole. Eleanor is survived by four daughters, Donna Crute Wilson (Amos), Connie Crute Gilliland, Karen Crute Poole, Kathy Crute Bowes (Kent); daughter-in-law, Tammy Jackson Crute; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Dora Faye Pittard Crute and Tommie Pittard Lumpkin (JT, James) both of Oxford, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Amis Chapel Baptist Church at 9198 Amis Chapel Rd.
