Elijah Daniel "Dan" Moorefield

NATHALIE Mr. Elijah Daniel "Dan" Moorefield, Jrwent to his Heavenly home on Thursday, September 23, 2021.Dan was born on December 18, 1947 in Alton, VA to the late Elijah Daniel Moorefield, Sr and the late Virginia Lacks Moorefield and was married to Shirley Wade Moorefield, who survives. Dan was a retired mail carrier with the USPS in South Boston and was instrumental in starting the Food Drive in South Boston.He loved antiques and collecting, especially with knives and coins. People were his passion and he never met a stranger.He was a member of Falling River Baptist Church and loved music and singing hymns. Dan was also a veteran and served his country in the US Air Force. In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by sons, Thom Moorefield and Michael Moorefield, both of South Boston; daughters, Dr. Teah Bayless (Charles) of Raleigh, NC and Melanie Perkins of Scottsburg; grandchildren, Paige, Madison, Jonathan, Willow, Joshua (Dani), Brianna , Cameron and Aric. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Rusty Perkins and a step son, Tech Sgt. Keith Martin. A Memorial Service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Falling River Baptist Church at 2874 Wickliffe Rd. Brookneal, VA 24528 with Reverend Brian Hart officiating.The family is accepting visitors at their home at all other times. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.brookslyon.com.
