Elizabeth Ward Crowder died on June 9, 2009, survived by her husband Bouldin MacLean Crowder. Mrs. Crowder was born in Charlotte County, Virginia on January 6, 1914. She attended Averett College in Danville, Virginia. She began her employment in the Charlotte County Agriculture Department where she worked until 1930. She moved to Petersburg, Virginia at that time and was employed by the Agriculture Adjustment Administration. In 1936 she was transferred by the Agriculture Department from Petersburg to Virginia Tech. Mrs. Crowder and her husband returned to Clarksville, Virginia in July of 1946 where she was employed by a local attorney and later became Chief Clerk of the Lower Courts under Judge John Tisdale. She retired from the Court System after 25 years of service. She is also survived by her sister, Marguerite Ward Radford and her sister-in-law Patricia P. Ward both of Keysville. In addition, she is survived by her nieces, Debra W. Hunter, Cynthia R. Wright, Barbara R. Hall, Elizabeth M. Hueske and Cynthia M. Rogers and a host of great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Watkins Copper Lyon Funeral Home on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30.
