Elizabeth Jane Claiborne Lloyd

Elizabeth Jane Claiborne Lloyd of Virgilina, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the age of 71. Born in Granville County, NC, on July 20, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Harvey McDowell Claiborne and the late Peggy Satterfield Claiborne, and was married to Gene Lloyd, who survives. Jane retired from Revlon after 26 years of employment as a chemical buyer. Throughout her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, and took her beloved dog, Oreo, on daily rides. Jane will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. She was a devoted lifelong member at Florence Avenue Baptist Church, where she actively served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, church publicist and served on the building and grounds committee with the new church addition in 2005.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, Gene; Jane is survived by a son, Chad Lloyd (Sara) of Oxford, NC; grandchildren, Maya and Anna Lloyd; sister, Joyce Hill of Virgilina and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Florence Avenue Baptist Church in Virgilina with burial to follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The Reverends Herbert Brown and Jack Stewart will officiate the service. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 – 1: 45.
