Elizabeth Newton Overbey

Mrs. Elizabeth Newton Overbey of 2244 Aarons Creek Rd., Virgilina died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at her home at the age of 81. She was born in Mecklenburg Co. on December 21, 1928 to the late James and Sally Newton and was married to Decatur M. Overbey. Mrs. Overbey was a homemaker and was a member of Hitesburg Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Decatur M. Overbey of Virgilina; a son, Donald Overbey and wife, Yvonne of Ringgold; a grandson, Joe Council of Inwood, WV; and a granddaughter, Beth Ralston and husband, Brett of Virgilina. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Wanda O. Carter. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Hitesburg Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Riley and Rev. Mike Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
