Ella Miller Green

SOUTH BOSTON Miss Ella Miller Green of South Boston, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021. She was born in Halifax County on November 13, 1930 to the late Seddie and Ella Burgess Green. Ella worked in retail from the age of 13 and many will remember her from Roses Department Store in South Boston. She was a collector and loved collecting many things. Ella was a member of McCanless Memorial United Methodist Church in South Boston. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews who are left to cherish her memory and also a sister, Frances Thomas.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Ardellia Vernon and Elizabeth Reaves; brothers, Willie Green, Seddie Green, Jr, Lacy Green and Harold Green. A very special thank you to Betty Chumney, Kitty and Wayne Holt, Lessie and James Hazelwood, Jesse and Bernice Lowery, and Mary Tharpe. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at McCanless Memorial United Methodist Church, Edmonds Street, South Boston, VA. with Reverend Johnny Tucker officiating.Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 10-11AM, at the church.
