Ellen Beatrice Mcallister Arroyo

Ellen Beatrice McAllister Arroyo, 91, of Victoria, VA, formerly of Arlington, VA passed away Friday, August 29, 2008. Ellen was born September 26, 1916 in Culpeper, VA. She is survived by her husband, Jose Abel Arroyo of 70 years; two children, Emily Jane Rankin and James McAllister Arroyo; three grand-daughters, Elizabeth Victoria Rankin, Christina Marie Beaver, Michele Elena Judd; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Rankin. Ellen retired after 39 years of dedicated service from the federal government in Washington, DC. She worked for the General Accounting Office, Department of Agriculture and Commerce Department's Gross National Product Program presently known as the Domestic National Product Program, where she was authorized to release to the public monthly revised figures on the nation's gross national product. Ellen and Jose received a Congressional citation in commemoration of their 70th wedding anniversary and in recognition of Ellen's service to the Nation from Congressman Virgil H. Goode, Jr. of Virginia. Ellen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and will be remembered for her quiet strength. The family will receive friends and a rosary will be said at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, Clarksville, VA on Sunday, August 31 between 5 and 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Clarksville, VA at 10AM with burial following at Westview Cemetery in Farmville, VA.
