Elmer Wilson Hancock

Mr. Elmer Wilson Hancock of 1098 W. Oak Hill Dr., Halifax died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the age 73. He was born in Halifax Co. on August 26, 1937 to the late Ernest P. and Pauline Powell Hancock. Mr. Hancock was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired truck driver for E&M Express, and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a brother, Ernest J. "June" Hancock of South Boston; two nephews, Daryl S. Hancock and wife, Pat of Scottsburg and Dean Hancock and wife, Brenda of Halifax; three great nieces, Amanda Trent, Loren Hancock, and Megan Hancock; a great nephew, Michael Brizandine; and devoted friend, Joyce Hill of Halifax. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at the home, 1098 W. Oak Hill Dr., Halifax. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice of Virginia, 22 Clark St., Farmville, VA 23901.
