Elsie Smith Bliss

SOUTH BOSTON - Mrs. Elsie Smith Bliss of Cluster Springs, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the age of 85.Born in Halifax County on October 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Morgan and Althea Smith and was married to George Washington Bliss. Elsie was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church. She retired from Tultex after 27 years of employment there. She loved gardening and working in her flowers. She is survived by her husband, George; a son, Stan Bliss and wife Karen; a daughter, Janet Dunn and husband, Danny; grandchildren, Steve Bliss and friend, Jackie, Ashley Riddle and husband, Chip, Scott Dunn and wife, Allison, and Justin Dunn and wife, Felicia; great grandchildren, Luke and Harper Dunn, Olivia Bliss, Riley and Ian Riddle; and sister, Frances King. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by an aunt, Sara Hagood Smith. Funeral services for Elsie Bliss will be Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 2:00PM at Black Walnut Baptist Church with Reverend Raymond Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Black Walnut Baptist Church from 6:00PM to 7:30PM and other times the home, 1200 Cluster Springs Road, South Boston.
