Elsie Cole Ford

Mrs. Elsie Cole Ford of 5058 Kingswood Road, Virgilina, VA died Friday, June 7, 2013 at the age of 94. She was born in Halifax County, VA on June 22, 1918 to the late Robert Edward "Ned" Cole and the late Janie Lowery Cole, and was married to the late William Lacy Ford. Mrs. Ford was a homemaker and a retired cook at Long's Drive-in. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Betty F. Mele and her husband John of South Boston, VA; one son, Billy Ford and his wife Judy of Virgilina, VA; one sister, Primrose Goodwin of South Boston, VA; a granddaughter, Amber Ford; two grandsons, Kris Mele and his wife Megan and Brad Mele and his wife Amanda; two great grandchildren, Brayden Mele and Justice Mele; four step grandchildren, Justin Eubank, Ginger Davis, Jeff Eubank, and Jacqueline Wyrick, and two sisters-in-law, Mary W. "Bye" Cole and Doris Cole. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rosemond Ford, a sister, Grace Sue Elliott, and three brothers, A. E. "Pete" Cole, Elvin Cole, and Waverly Cole. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 4 PM at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. George Gorman and Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 3 until 4 PM, and at other times at the home of Betty & John Mele, 2112 Ponderosa Road, South Boston, VA.
