Elsie Tucker Franklin

Mrs. Elsie Tucker Franklin of 3131 Philpott Rd., South Boston, VA died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the age of 91. She was born in Halifax Co., VA on September 17, 1919 to the late Walter Herbert Tucker and the late Blanche Chandler Tucker and was married to Charlie E. Franklin. Mrs. Franklin was a homemaker and was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Charlie E. Franklin of South Boston, VA; a daughter, Blanche F. Ridgeway and husband, Wayne of Victoria, VA; a half sister, Faye Tucker Fuqua of Halifax, VA; a half brother, Herbert Wade Tucker of Ringgold, VA; three special nieces, Patsy Long, Nancy Edwards, and Anne Yancey; special friend and caretaker, Mary Talbott of Alton, VA; and a special cat, Midnight. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Keith Tucker. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Woodfin officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM and at other times at the home.
